plume

plume

watch me twirl, she coos
a pirouette of petals–
beneath her spinning skirt
white and yellow and fragrant
he sips milk of poison

tub, bed, spoon

tub, bed, spoon

they say you are vanilla
like it’s a dirty word
what do they know?

you play well with others
sprinkle of spice, dash of dark
even chocolate

you complete my cravings
hit all my sweet spots
leave me dripping cream

they say you are vanilla
like it’s a dirty word
what do they know?

spoken like a true heartbreaker

H: You’re so rough!

E: I’m rough, but I don’t break things.

H: Except hearts.

E: I don’t break hearts.

H: You’ve turned down a marriage proposal!

E: They didn’t deserve me.

he is on the hunt
sits you down, lays into you
hours on end
you hurt, you weep, you forgive
show me how you love. teach me.

leander

leander

you are the green
keeping me keen
link between my silver

you are the potion
in my veins
sword moulded with my soul

cupid fired his arrow
shot through my heel

till death valley do us part

till death valley do us part

we’ll sit on trains with
frayed seats and rickety knees
listen to crackling joints
chug over miles of wooden tracks
through towns and cities and countries
over the clamour of our hearts
when we grow old, love,
I’m gonna be your vagabond

the tent is collapsing on us

the tent is collapsing on us

we wrote letters
pink ink on purple paper
tucked into floral envelopes
sealed with a sticker and a kiss
even though we sat
beside one another

we giggled
when he asked
are you sisters
said no
actions questioning answer

we talked about boys
a lot
made a pact
you’ll be my bridesmaid
and you’ll be mine

we still write
sometimes
we’re still sisters
always
and once you nab a man
I’m coming over for stiletto practice

Notes:
Instead of re-pitching our tent, we used our legs as poles.  We didn’t suffocate; that’s all that matters.

consecrated

consecrated

she waited for me
for six years
I came
left an angry scar
deep and long tale
that cannot mar
the beauty of birth

I’m still here
after twenty-three years
leaving scars
on her heart
she’s still here
after twenty-three years
loving me
with a mother’s hati
