illusive

illusive

it is easy
to stir the soul
the right words, the right melody,
the right instruments
when to pause, when to whisper,
when to wail
then people will shout and cry,
jump and sway

but the spirit is not
weak
it is not
soul

the spirit does not react
to provocations
on the mind and heart
it is impervious
to all that is human
and responds only
to another spirit
silently, serenely
within

it is easy
to stir the soul
difficult
to awaken the spirit
and yet more difficult
to tell one from the other
